PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Merrimack volleyball team tied a school
record, set last season, with 20 victories, picking up an important
3-0 conference victory over Pace University Friday night.
Game scores were 25-13, 25-23, 25-19.
Merrimack took the first set 25-13 without committing an attack
error, while totaling 15 kills, led by five from Molly
Cindric (Westlake Village, CA).
After a closely-contested 25-23 second-set victory, the Warriors
finished off the Setters, who entered Friday's match with an 8-3
conference record, with a 25-19 third-set victory, with
Megan Murray (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) getting
the final kill, her seventh of the game, to send the visitors to
their third straight victory.
Cindric led the way once again with 13 kills and nine digs, one
shy of her 12th double-double and also added a team-best
three block assists and two aces. Murray hit .389 overall and
totaled two blocks. Natalee Yeazle (Blaine, MN)
recorded nine kills and hit .474, while Elyse Lorenz
(Frankfurt, IL) posted 32 assists, seven digs and two
aces. Shaunda Forcier (Gonic, NH) rounded out the
offense with eight kills, with Alyssa Pickert (Tinley Park,
IL) anchoring the defense with 18 digs.
"We had good all-around play, offense, defense, blocking, and at
the net," said head coach Joey Pacis. "We did all the things we
have to do to win games. We focused on the process and on execution
and it really took the pressure off. It's a very good win, and we
hope to continue it into tomorrow."
The Warriors were consistent all evening, hitting .316 overall,
committing just seven attack errors, making quick work of the
Setters.
Merrimack (20-9, 7-5 NE-10) looks to continue its momentum
against Adelphi Saturday at 1 p.m. in another big conference
matchup.
