Women's Soccer Blanks Nyack; Wins Fourth Straight
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Out-shooting the Warriors of Nyack
(1-1-0), 51-3, the Merrimack women's soccer Warriors (4-0-1)
recorded their fourth straight win, 3-0, on Warrior Field on Labor
Day.
Senior captain Gabrielle Gramprey (Brockton, MA)
came up one point shy of her 100th career point, scoring a goal and
assisting on sophomore Kara Hennigan's
(Pawtucket, RI) third goal of the season.
Junior Ashley Alnwick (Groton, MA) rounded out
the trio of goals with her first of the season and eventual
game-winner from classmate Lindsay
deMont (Littleton, MA) who registered a pair of
helpers in the game.
Senior captain Britany Gustafson (East Hampton,
CT) registered her fourth win and third shut-out on the year making
a save in the first half.
Head Coach Gabe Mejail said after the game,
“we had a number of opportunities to score, and that's
all you can ask for." When asked about how his team
approached the game, Mejail said, "I don't think we were
looking past Nyack today, but if we were, hopefully it means
we're focused on Southern Connecticut.”
For Nyack, junior Shannon McNeely stopped 18 Warrior shots,
including 11 in the second half to keep the visiting Warriors in
the game.
Concluding their three-game home stand without a blemish,
Merrimack begins a two-game road trip at Southern Connecticut on
Saturday, September 12th at 4:00pm.
