NORTH ANDOVER, MA - With a career-high 29 points, sophomore Genn Roy (Granby, MA) led the Merrimack women's basketball team to a win over Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon at Volpe Gym.

With the win, Merrimack (11-15, 9-12 NE-10) has a share of ninth in the Conference with one game to play against Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday.  Saint Michael's falls to 8-16 (6-15 NE-10) and out of contention for the postseason.

For head coach Helen Williams, the 2009-10 became her winningest season in her young career with 11 regular season wins and nine Conference wins.

The first half featured sophomore Roy's highest scoring first half of the year with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field.  Roy played the first 20 minutes in their entirety while grabbing four boards in the meantime.

Behind 12 offensive boads in the first half, Merrimack scored eight second chance points but after a six point lead, the Warriors succumbed to a 16-4 run that led to a kotted halftime score (31-31).

In the second half, Merrimack used 5-of-9 shooting from deep to gain as much as a seven point advantage at 12:18 on a three from junior Tiffany Colon (Lawrence, MA).  Saint Michael's, on the other hand, shot just 1-of-11 from long distance.  In the game, Colon had 12 points and 10 boards in 31 minutes.

For Saint Michael's, junior Logan Pintka led the Purple Knights' scoring attack with 16 points, including 8-of-8 from the line.

The Warriors return to action for their final Conference game against Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday, February 24 at 5:30pm.  Before the game, senior Casey Miller-the current seventh leading scorer in Merrimack history (1,205)-will be honored in recognition of her four years with the Merrimack women's basketball program.
