#9 Merrimack Makes It Eight Straight with 26-11 Win over Franklin Pierce
RINDGE, NH – The ninth-ranked Merrimack women's lacrosse
team pushed its school-record winning streak to eight with a 26-11
victory over Franklin Pierce Wednesday evening.
The win improves the Warriors to 10-2 overall and 8-2 in
conference and sets up a showdown for third-place on Saturday as
Merrimack hosts Southern New Hampshire at 1 p.m. The winner will
capture third place, with the loser finishing fourth in the
standings. Either way, Merrimack will host a Northeast-10
Quarterfinal game on Wednesday, May 5 at Warrior Field.

Basile (Longmeadow, MA) led the way with six goals and
seven points, while Colleen Strachan
(Bedford, MA) and Kelly
Pasquantonio (Plainville, MA) had five goals each,
with Strachan finishing with seven points.
The Warriors scored nine of the first 10 goals in the first
10:07 of the game, including four in the first 3:11.
In all, seven players had multi-goal efforts, including
Maddie
Basile (Longmeadow, MA), who had three goals and two
assists. Sarah Salatto
(Guilford, CT) scored twice, picked up a team-best six
ground balls, and caused a team-high three turnovers.
“We had a slow first half after a good start and finished
much better as we move into Saturday's game,” said head coach
Corinne Baker.
Jamie-Lee
Whiteway (Billerica, MA) stopped six shots in net for
the victory.
Merrimack forced 28 Raven turnovers while limiting Jordan
Baillargeon to three goals and six points, as the Ravens concluded
their season with a 6-9 record, 4-7 in the conference.
Prior to Saturday's game, the Warriors will honor the Class of
2010 as part of Senior Day.
