How It Happened
The Navy and Gold were coming off a 3-0 defeat just one day ago against Le Moyne College, and were hoping to right the ship against the Golden Knights.

The first set did not go as planned, with Merrimack losing 25-21. The set was squared at 17-17, but Saint Rose won eight of the final 12 points to come away victorious.

The second and third sets closed with scores of 25-17 and 25-19, respectively.

Offensively, the Warriors displayed a balanced attack, with three players finishing with at least eight kills. Corrine Gosselin (Larence, Mass.) led the way with nine kills while Stephanie Sheehan Smithtown, N.Y.) and Jennifer Cain (Melrose, Mass.) each finished with eight kills.

The Golden Knights played their best during the final frame, totaling 14 kills in the third set to go along with zero errors. As a team, Saint Rose finished with a .519 hitting percentage during the last set.

Inside The Numbers

  • Sophomore setter Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) finished with a match-high 27 assists.
  • Junior libero Madison Burke (San Jose, Calif.) led the Warriors with 12 digs. Cain tallied 10 digs, meaning she was two kills shy of a double-double.
  • With her eight kills, Sheehan needs 13 more to move in second place on the program's all-time kills list
  • The Golden Knights dominated the middle, compiling 24 block assists compared to Merrimack's 6. Jennifer Gundrum led the way with eight block assists for the Golden Knights
