How It Happened
Senior Stephanie Sheehan (Smithtown, N.Y.) collected a match-high 23 kills, but that was not enough to propel the Warriors to victory. Reigning NE-10 Rookie of the Year Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) accounted for a match-high 53 assists, and junior libero Madison Burke (San Jose, Calif.) paced the Navy and Gold with 29 digs.
Merrimack got out to a strong start, winning the first two sets 25-23 and 25-18. The next two sets would go in favor of the Penmen, as SNHU won 25-18 and 25-23. The final set would be a back-and-forth affair. Eventually the Penmen would triumph 19-17. Errors hurt the Warriors, especially in the third and fifth sets, where Merrimack finished with a .029 and .038 attack percentage, respectively, in each set.
Inside The Numbers
- In addition to leading the team in assists, Stuhr tied for the team lead with five block assists

- Three Penmen finished with double-digit kills, led by Emma Houlihan with 15. Junior setter Catherine Cotton contributed 50 assists.
