How It Happened
Before the game, Olivia Coakley (Bridgewater, Mass.), Christine Keenan (Byfield, Mass.), Kelly Metzger (Trumbull, Conn.) and Giulia Palombo (Sandwich, Mass.) were honored in a special ceremony. All four student-athletes are set to graduate this May as members of the Class of 2015.
Within the first 15:22, the third-ranked Dolphins only scored four goals. The Warriors defense kept an offense that is ranked in the top-ten in the nation with nearly 16 goals per game in check for most of the opening stanza. Le Moyne eventually tacked on five goals to make it 9-0 at halftime.
The Dolphins added two goals over the first ten minutes of the second stanza to take a 11-0 advantage. Redshirt freshman Hunter McCarthy (Avon, Conn.) snapped the Warriors' scoreless drought with a dodge to the crease and scoring high-to-high. The Dolphins answered with four straight tallies, before Metzger snapped that run with her sixth goal of the season.
Le Moyne won the game 15-2 to improve to 14-1 on the season. Merrimack forced the Dolphins into four failed clears, while Warriors 10-of-12 clearing attempts. The Navy and Gold snatched nine ground balls and won eight draw controls.
