GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's soccer team will look to finish September by winning three of their last four games when they visit 2014 Northeast-10 Conference semifinalist Adelphi on Wednesday night.

The Basics
Date/Time:
Sept. 30, 2015 | 7:00 p.m.
Records: Merrimack (5-1-2, 2-1-1 NE-10)
| Adelphi (5-2-1, 3-0-1 NE-10)
Location:
Motamed Field | Garden City, N.Y.

Last Time Out:
The Warriors notched an impressive win over NYIT this past Thursday, scoring six goals and allowing none in non-conference play at Martone-Mejail Field. Five different players would score in the game, with two goals coming from freshman McKenna Moore (Seattle, Wash.) in her first multi-goal came of her career.

Sophomores Andrea Rego (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Sarah Boucher (Northbridge, Mass.) both would score their first goals of 2015 in the shutout win. Freshman Amanda Murolo (Montville, N.J.) also tallied her first of the season and first career goal as a Warrior.

Last Season vs. Adelphi:
These two teams would meet just once last year, coming late in the 2014 season at Martone-Mejail Field. Adelphi would win the very low-scoring contest by a margin of 1-0. The Panthers' lone goal came off of a penalty kick in the first half that they were able to capitalize on.

Merrimack outshot Adelphi in the game 14-12, but was never able to find the back of the net. Then freshman and now sophomore goalkeeper Molly Meehan (Fairfield, Conn.) would play the entirety of that game in net for the Warriors, making three saves in the contest.

The Warriors:

  • With a win on Wednesday, the Warriors would finish September with just one loss or less for the first time since 2011, when Merrimack won every game in the first month of the season.
  • Senior Jenna Savi (Dedham, Mass.) added two assists in Thursday's game, improving her NE-10 leading season total to eight, with the next closest player sitting at five. Savi also currently leads the conference in points (14).
  • Sophomore Victoria Carter (Smithfield, R.I.) also scored against NYIT, netting her fifth of the season which has her tied for first in goals in the NE-10.

The Panthers:

  • Adelphi is 5-2-1 through eight games this season, and are undefeated in conference play through four games, going 3-0-1. Their most notable win came over a then 25th-ranked New Haven, topping them 2-1 at home.
  • Senior Kelsey Malles has been the Panthers' primary offensive threat leading her team in goals (5) and points (12). Malles is tied with Carter for the NE-10 lead in goals, and sits tied for second in the conference in points behind Savi.

Up Next
The Warriors remain on the road and will head to Springfield, Massachusetts for a Saturday night matchup with American International College at 8:00 p.m.
