Rapid Recap:
  • Boston College had early pressure in the opening period, but junior Samantha Ridgewell (Outlook, Saskatchewan) was up to the challenge. Merrimack looked to take a lead on a pair of chances, including a breakaway chance by sophomore Mikyla Grant-Mentis (Brampton, Ontario) in the first six minutes of the stanza. But it was the Eagles, who outshot Merrimack 10-6 in the period, who took a 1-0 lead at 8:46 of the first.
  • The Warriors wasted little time in the second period to even things up, as junior Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ontario) scored the tying goal 20 seconds into the stanza. However, a quick answer by the Eagles gave the home team the lead once again at 1:32 of the second. The second period looked as though it was go to break a one goal game. But the Eagles scored with 2:31 left in the frame and it was 3-1 heading into the second intermission.
  • The Eagles were controlling play early in the third, before scoring at 6:39 to extend the lead to 4-1. Boston College out shot Merrimack 12-9 in the third.
Scoring Summaries
  • Boston College skated into the offensive zone, and a give-and-go play between Catrin Lonergan and Kenzie Kent, led to a wrist shot by Kent into the back of the net at 8:36 of the first.
  • The Warriors wasted little time in the second, scoring 20 seconds on a scrum in front of the net. Rae was able to pick up a loose puck in front and fire it home to make it 1-1. Grant-Mentis and junior Madison Morey (Fairbanks, Alaska) added assists on the play.
  • The Eagles scored at 1:32 to retake the lead. The initial shot was blocked by junior Dominique Kremer (West Fargo, N.D.), but Willow Carson was there for BC to put away the rebound.
  • BC scored at the 17:29 mark of the second, as Daryl Watts scored her 21st goal of the season.
