Rapid Recap
  • After rookie Haley Bartlett, who was one of the three five-goal scorers for Merrimack on Wednesday, opened the scoring just 59 seconds into the game, Saint Michael's went ahead after back-to-back tallies and had a 2-1 lead less than five minutes in.
  • Bartlett would answer to tie the game, but Saint Michael's again took the lead with a goal at 21:45. Bartlett and fellow freshman Meghan Dzialo would put Merrimack back on front by a goal (4-3) with 18 minutes left in the half, but the Purple Knights refused to go quietly, scoring in succession again within a 30-second span to go ahead by a 5-4 score.
  • Junior Amber Feminella, another of the Warriors' five-goal scorers, found the back of the net for the first time to level the ledger at 5-5, but Saint Michael's had another answer to take the lead right back at 6-5. That, however, was the last time the hosts would be in front, as Merrimack closed out the half with the final eight goals over a span of 12:34, as four different Warriors – including four from Feminella alone – would send the visitors into the break ahead by a 13-6 score.
  • While Saint Michael's had the opening goal of the second half and then found the back of the net again with 17:49 left, the lead never grew less than six from there on out, as the Warriors went on another lengthy scoring run to close out the contest, with junior Bridget Schofield scoring three more times in that span while, on the other end, junior Lauren Trepaney yielded nothing over the final 18 minutes of regulation.
Top Performances
  • While she was one of three five-goal scorers, Feminella led all players with her second-ever eight-point outing and first since her freshman year. She is the only player on the roster to ever record eight points in a single game.
  • After missing the last two games, Bartlett returned in dominant fashion, tying her career-high from earlier this season against Stonehill with seven points on five goals and two helpers.
  • Schofield, meanwhile, tied her career-high in scoring with her fourth-ever five-goal game.
  • One game after dishing a career-best five helpers, sophomore Ally DaCosta did so once again en route to finishing with six points (1g, 5a), tying a career-high.
  • Dzialo (2g, 1a) also had a two-goal game, while senior Annette Ruggiero, sophomore Olivia Colletti and freshman Lulu Sweeney also scored.
  • Sophomore Courtney Capobianco led all Warriors with four ground balls and had one of the team's six caused turnovers, while freshman Catherine Mahanna set a new single-game best with six draw controls.
  • Junior Lauren Trepaney made her first start of the year and recorded 10 saves while allowing eight goals.
Notes & Numbers
  • Merrimack recorded its sixth win of the season in just nine games, meaning it will have more victories this year than any of the past six.
  • Merrimack's three-game winning streak is also its first since doing so back in 2012.
  • Feminella added to her league-leading goal total of 38 on the year, six best of the next-closest player, while DaCosta now ranks second in the league with 21 assists.
  • Feminella also now is tied for the league lead in scoring with 47 points overall.
  • Merrimack set a season high in points (33) and assists (12) on Wednesday.
  • Merrimack outshot Saint Michael's 42-25 (31-18 SOG) while finishing 14-of-21 on clears. The Warriors also had a 23-13 edge in ground balls and a 21-10 lead in draw controls.
  • With 21 more goals on Tuesday, the Warriors have recorded double-digit goal totals in each of their first nine games, doing so for the first time since the 2010 season when they did so in their first 14 games of the year.
  • Merrimack's 6-3 start is its best eight-game record since the 2011 season, as well; that year, the Warriors finished 12-7 overall.
