Woman’s Volleyball Tripped up by Robert Morris

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College woman's volleyball team hosted Northeast Conference (NEC) leader Robert Morris University on Thursday night at Hummel Court.  The Warriors ultimately came up short losing by the score of three sets to zero.

The Basics
Score: Robert Morris 3, Merrimack 0 (25-14 | 25-19 | 25-8)
Records: Merrimack (1-13, 0-7 NEC) | RMU (17-3, 7-0 NEC)

Set Breakdown:
  • The match started out very close, with the score 7-7, when Robert Morris then went on to score six consecutive points. Later in the set the Colonials went on a 7-1 run.  Sophomore Megan Rumenapp led the Warriors with four assists during the set.
  • In the second set, the Warriors totaled 10 kills while receiving contributions from six different players, including two service aces from sophomore Brooke Leestma. The Warriors were battling their way through the set holding on to a 22-19 score before Robert Morris closed out the set with three consecutive points off of kills.
  • The Warriors trailed in the third set 10-1 after winning the first point.  Down the stretch Merrimack got kills from Senior Catherine Flaherty, Sophomore Kara Haase, and Freshman Lily Blodgett.

  • Rumenapp posted another season high with 12 assists after setting her season high in her last game with 10
  • Leestma led the Warriors in points 8, kills 6, and service aces 2
  • Robert Morris had only 12 errors compared to Merrimack's 22
