NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's track and field team had a strong showing in the first day of the Northeast Conference Championships at Bryant University on Saturday, setting the stage for a big Championship Day Sunday.

Meet Highlights
- Samantha LiPetri set a PR as she took the first overall preliminary finish in the 800m at 2:16.55, and is set to vie for a medal on Sunday.
- Also taking first in a prelim was Ava Mahoney with a 4:57.20 time in the 1500m. Lauren Magill also qualified for the 1500m final with a prelim 4:59.62 time for a sixth place finish.
- Freshman Carla Bouchrouche earned a second place finish in the 400m hurdles prelim, crossing at 1:04.39.
- The Warriors earned two top-ten finishes in the high jump, as Abigail Greeley finished sixth with a 1.55m jump and was joined by Annie Towler who finished eighth with a 1.55m jump.
- Freshman Abigail Greeley bested her personal best and program record in the long jump, winning the event with a 5.75m jump.
- In the final event of the day, the 4x800m relay of Bouvier, Dempsey, Magill and LiPetri finished fourth at 9:34.02.
- Taylor Jax earned an eighth place finish in the shot put finals with an 11.44m throw and earned thirteenth overall with a 36.95m hammer throw.
- Competing for the Warriors tomorrow in addition to today's qualifiers are: Kathryn Sullivan (triple jump, 100m hurdles), Allee Purcell (triple jump), Skyler Bomba (pole vault, 100m hurdles), Anna Gardner (pole vault), Sarah Wilson (pole vault), Ashley Macek (100m hurdles), Alana Johnson (javelin), Skylar DiMartino (javelin) and Laurel Breen (javelin).
- Competing on the track tomorrow for the Warriors in addition to today's qualifiers are: Carley Gable (100m), Hunter Laubstein (100m, 200m), Alexandria DiPerri (100m), Jahaida Gabriel (100m), Taylor Budney (100m, 200m), Emma Faivre (200m), Julia Dempsey (5000m), Alyssa Abruzzese (5000m), the 4x100 relay team and the 4x400 relay team.
