NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The women's lacrosse team came up short in their matchup against the Holy Cross Crusaders, with a final score of 20-7. The cold, rainy weather was a less than hospitable setting for the game at Duane Stadium, but Meghan Dzialo was able to extend her scoring streak, notching two for the Warriors this afternoon.
The Basics:
Score: Holy Cross 20, Merrimack 7
Records: Merrimack (0-4, 0-0 NEC), Holy Cross (3-4, 0-0 PL)
How it happened:
1st quarter:
- The Crusaders got off to a fast start, scoring four unanswered, and eating away at the clock. Georgia Parker scored first for the Warrior to bring it to 4-1.Â
- The Crusaders would score once more before the end of the quarter.Â
End of 1st: 5-1 Holy Cross
2nd quarter:
- The Warriors came out strong in the second, showing that they would not go down without a fight. Merrimack would go on to out-score Holy Cross 5-3 in the quarter.Â
- Goal-scorers for the Warriors in this quarter were Taylor Darrell, Dzialo, Parker, and Natalie Calkins
End of 2nd: 8-6 Holy Cross
3rd quarter:
- Just as the Warriors did in the second quarter, Holy Cross came back fighting both offensively and defensively in the third. The Crusaders would go one to score six in the quarter, and shut out Merrimack's offense.
End if 3rd: 14-6 Holy Cross
4th quarter:
- Holy Cross would maintain composure and control of the game, though the Warriors would add one more to their game total, at the hands of Darrell.
Final Score: 20-7 Holy Cross
