Cambridge, Mass – Merrimack College senior running back
Jermaine Corbett was named last week's recipient of the New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award which is presented by the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
Corbett rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts in a 48-28 victory over Stonehill College on Saturday afternoon in North Andover. The Skyhawk transfer also added a 16-yard reception and had three kick returns of a total of 106 yards.
The senior running back from Jersey ranks in the top 15 nationally in rushing yards (754). Corbett also ranks in the top 20 nationally with seven rushing touchdowns so far this season. In the kick return game, Corbett ranks in the top 20 in all of FCS with 323 return yards through seven games this season. He ranks second nationally in kick return average (32.5).
The Warriors get back to action on Saturday afternoon against Colgate University. Game time is set for noon.
