How It Happened
The Warriors were coming off of a bye week. They would start with a match against AIC who they played earlier in the year to a tune of a three set sweep. Merrimack was looking to do the same tonight. What they got was nothing of the sort. The first set started off with the Yellow Jackets getting off to a 5-1 lead. Merrimack quickly made that lead disappear but it was a four to nothing run from the black and gold that put them ahead and ultimately won them the first set 25-22.

The second set was as close as close could be. Merrimack went up early but the Yellow Jackets came back after a 4-0 run late in the set to knot it up at 18 a piece. The Warriors would close it out by scoring 5 of the last 6 winning the second 25-21.

The third set went in Merrimack's favor with the fourth and what the Warriors hoped would be the final ended up on the other side. AIC would make it even at two sets each, setting the stage for the first fifth set that Merrimack had not run into all season long.

The fifth set in volleyball is always fun and this one was no different. Isaiah Vogel got the party started with a kill before a quick response from AIC. Back and forth each squad would go, keeping it close and even tied it up at 10. Back to back points from the Yellow Jackets put them ahead and then a quick three points got the lead back in Merrimack's hands. The match would culminate in a 15-15 tie atop the fifth set before a Nick Tidik kill and a final attack error from the home team that gave the Warriors a thrilling five set victory to kick off their busy week.
