Women's Basketball Stumbles Against CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, CT – The Merrimack College Women's basketball team lost a road game to the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State.

Records: CCSU (6-16, 4-5), Merrimack 71 (7-15, 4-5)

Rapid Recap
Merrimack would start this game up big with a 10-2 start. All signs pointed to Merrimack dominating their neighbors to the south again. The lead quickly dissipated as the Blue Devils were able to get back into it. CCSU would go into the first break with a 23-18 advantage. The second quarter was one to forget for Merrimack as the Blue Devils built on their first quarter lead. While the Warriors originally cut it down to just four, it was CCSU continuing to pile it on. They would go up as much as 13 points and finish out the half up 46-35.
 
The second half got going with even more CCSU. The Blue Devils grew their double digit lead to as much as 18 points at 54-36. The Warriors were not able to score their first field goal of the quarter until the 5:19 mark of the third. Merrimack was able to chip away at the lead, cutting it to 12 heading into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw more of the same as CCSU maintained and even added to their large lead putting the Warriors behind as much as 17 points. MC was never able to claw their way back into the game and eventually lost 78-71.
