North Andover, Mass.—The Merrimack Warriors Women's hockey team challenged late but couldn't complete the comeback against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday night.
The Basics
Merrimack (9-17-3, 6-13-3): 2, New Hampshire (13-14-2, 10-10-2): 3
The Wildcats took the lead into the first intermission as they scored the period's only goal at 3:25 of the first.
In the second period,
Maria Lindberg took a slick pass from
Mary Edmonds to score her seventh goal of the season to tie the game at one.
New Hampshire took back control of the game with two goals in 30 seconds, and they carried the two goal lead into the third.
In the final period, Merrimack would be rewarded for their offensive pressure as
Teghan Inglis fired in a shot on
Alex Ferguson rebound.
Merrimack would keep the puck for nearly all of the final two minutes of the game with the net empty but were unable to tie the score.
