Rapid Recap
The Warriors were coming off their third straight loss and looked to rebound and get their first road win of the season. Merrimack put on a rookie showcase this afternoon as Lindsay Atkinson scored the first goal of the match and Allison Lamphere would follow right behind her with an unassisted goal of her own not even a minute later. The Warriors conceded their first goal with just under 6 minutes left in the first and responded only 15 seconds later to make it 3-1. Turnovers have been a common theme for Merrimack this season, but not today. The Warriors took great care of the ball while forcing lots of turnovers on the defensive end. It would be 4-2 entering the 2nd quarter and Merrimack continued to put the clamps on the Blue Devils. CCSU scored first, but that would be their only goal for the rest of the half. The Warriors were able to get things going offensively towards the end of the first half, with Grace Boneu netting a goal to make it 6-3 at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, Merrimack smelled blood in the water and attacked, going on a 4-0 run that extended into the 4th quarter as they would go up 10-4. This is where both Atkinson and Lamphere would post their hat tricks and make good cases for winning NEC Rookie of the Week. The Warrior's defense was stifling, forcing constant turnovers, and not allowing the Blue Devils any offensive chances. Mollie Flanagan wrapped things up with her first goal of the year and Merrimack would come out on top 11-5. It was an easy day at the office for goalie Hayley Kowalczyk who only faced 11 shots thanks to the spectacular defense by the team this afternoon.
