Victoria Stewart will begin her second season on the sidelines for the Merrimack College women's basketball program in 2019-20.
Stewart arrived on campus ahead of the 2018-19 season, and will embark on her second season as an assistant coach with the program. In her first year, Stewart helped the team to a 20-10 record and a berth into the NE10 Quarterfinals. Stewart's tutelage saw the Warriors win its most games in 15 years and post just the fourth 20-win campaign in school history. Merrimack was honored with three all-conference selections in her first year on the Warriors' bench, and junior center Denia Davis-Stewart developed into one of the top players in the area, receiving the program's first all-region selection in over a decade. Stewart also impacted a Merrimack offense that led the NE10 in points per game and 3-pointers made, seeing Lindsay Werner (70) and Kate Mager (66) sink the most and second most 3-point field goals in a single season in school history.Â
Prior to making her way to North Andover, Stewart served on the women's basketball staff at Amherst College, where she was a member of the two-time defending NCAA Division III National Champions. The Mammoths posted back-to-back 33-0 seasons in Stewart’s two years as an assistant coach, winning the national title in both campaigns. Stewart’s primary duties including film breakdown and working with Amherst’s guards. She also assisted in the program’s recruiting efforts.
Stewart earned her degree from UMass Amherst in 2016 in kinesiology with a minor in education. She is also currently working towards her graduate degree at Merrimack in elementary education.
