GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's soccer team clinched the eighth seed in the NE10 standings on the final day of the regular season and will face #10 Adelphi on Tuesday afternoon in the NE10 Championship Quarterfinal game on the road at Motamed Field at 4 p.m.

2017 NE10 Championship:
Tuesday, October 31st
Quarterfinals – at Higher Seeds
Match 1: #8 Merrimack at #1 Adelphi (4:00 PM)
Match 2: #7 Bentley at #2 Southern New Hampshire (4:00 PM)
Match 3: #6 Assumption at #3 Saint Rose (7:00 PM)
Match 4: #5 Pace at #4 Franklin Pierce (4:00 PM)

Last Time Out
  • The Warriors defeated Saint Anselm, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale on the road. Junior Gigi Guenther (Webster, Mass.) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 14th minute, while classmate Tori Daigle (Dayton, Maine) picked up an assist.
  • Sophomore keeper Erin Fulton (Farmington, Conn.) picked up her second-consecutive shutout and third of the season in a four-save effort.
  • Merrimack won five of the final six games of the regular season.
Earlier This Season vs. Adelphi:
  • Merrimack lost to Adelphi, 6-1, back on Sept. 9th to open up conference play. Daigle scored the only goal for the Warriors, while senior Emily Maier (Mesa, Ariz.) picked up an assist. Freshman Megan Langlois (Methuen, Mass.) and senior Molly Meehan (Fairfield, Conn.) split time in net.
  • It was the first of three nationally ranked teams the Warriors would face during the 2017 season.
The Panthers:
  • No. 10 Adelphi claimed the top seed in the NE10 standings finishing with 13 conference wins and 39 points. The Panthers allowed just 10 goals all season.
  • The last time out for them was a 4-1 win against Assumption to end the season on the road.
  • Jeanine Nunez had 29 points with 12 goals and five assists to lead the team. Isabel Sandstrom started all 17 games in net, posting a 0.59 goals against average, with eight shutouts.
Up Next
If Merrimack wins, the Warriors will advance to the semifinals for another road contest against either Pace or Franklin Pierce on Friday, Nov. 3rd.
