How It Happened
- UConn took a lead on an opening minute power play for a 1-0 lead which would hold through the game's opening 20 minutes. Emma Gorski held for 11 saves in the first to keep the game close for the Warriors.
- Merrimack tied the game up on its own power play midway through the second. Courtney Maud pinned the puck along the wall at the hash marks, where it was picked loose from the scrum by Teghan Inglis. Inglis walked the puck through the circle, connecting with Dominika Laskova coming from off the boards down low. Laskova waited, using the defender as a screen before pulling back for a high snap shot for the goal.
- The Huskies scored within the first minute again in the third, after pressure in the neutral zone led to a one-time shot from the break in for the lead.
- Laskova once again kept the Warriors in the mix with a goal at the end of a sharp penalty kill. As the penalty expired, Gabby Jones snapped up a loose puck, sending a breakout pass through the neutral zone to Katie Kaufman. Kaufman brought it in to the offensive zone, working firm on puck battle to hold possession in the high slot. Laskova curled to scoop up the puck with UConn's defense collapsed in the slot, pulling out to the circle for a hard one-time shot five hole to tie the game.
- UConn scored the clincher in the final five minutes, cashing in on a two-on-one break for the victory.
