NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College men's volleyball lost its home opener on Tuesday night to Harvard University, 3-0.
Zyshonne Lang led the team with seven kills on the night.
Miles Dewhirst had a team-high six digs in the defeat.

- Matthew Motes had a kill in the first set to give the Warriors a three-point advantage. The Crimson then went on a three-point run to tie the game. Merrimack responded with three points of their own to go back up three. Another three-point run by Harvard tied the set once again. After the Crimson took the lead, Lang had a kill to tie the game at 14. Xander Thesz had a kill to bring the Warriors within one. Down two, Motes and Lang had back-to-back kills to tie the set at 17. Merrimack pulled within one multiple times, but Harvard scored the last two points of the set to take a 1-0 lead.
- Two quick points by the Warriors in the second set gave them an early lead. The Crimson battled back, taking a three-point lead after going on a six-point scoring run. Merrimack found themselves down seven later on in the set. Harvard scored 10 out of the last 13 points to win the set by 11 points.
- In the third set, Thesz had a kill to put the Warriors down by two early. Later on in the set, Lang had a kill to keep the deficit at two points. After a couple points from the Crimson, Dewhirst had a kill, followed by Lang. A kill by Logan Whitaker gave Merrimack its 20th point of the set, unfortunately the next point went to Harvard, giving them the win.

- Lang led the team in service aces with two.
- Carson Bashford had a team-high 18 assists.
- The Warriors had eight blocks, compared to the Crimson who had three.
Up Next
Merrimack goes down to North Carolina for three games. The first will be against the University of Mount Olive on Friday. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
