Durham, N.H.—The Merrimack Warriors Women's hockey team battled for 65 minutes to earn the tie but they couldn't get the extra point in a 3-3 shootout loss.
In the first period, New Hampshire took the lead first scoring on the powerplay goal at 11:12, but the Warriors would find their breakthrough as
Celine Tedenby would put the puck upstairs on a powerplay of their own with just over five minutes to play in the first period. But New Hampshire would strike again on the powerplay to carry the one goal lead into the locker room after 20 minutes.
In the second period, the lone goal came on
Hayley Chang effort from the point that took a wild ricochet and the puck found it's way into the net to tie the score.
The Wildcats retook the lead again in the third on the powerplay but Merrimack refused to give in as they scored on the powerplay when
Maria Lindberg tipped in a Chang shot for her first career goal to even the score at three.
Neither team was able to score in overtime and New Hampshire would score the lone goal in the shootout to nab the extra point.
