Men's Volleyball Rolls Over Fisher College For Fifth Straight Win

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack College men's volleyball team won their fifth match in program history on Saturday night after beating Fisher College, 3-0. Sage Gatling had 7 kills in the match, Logan Whitaker had 6, and Matthew Motes had 5.

  • The Warriors started the first set off early with a 3-point run lead by a service ace from Carson Bashford. The run ended with a point from Fisher College but Merrimack wasted no time to go on a 6-point run lead by a kill from Gatling and a service ace from Miles Dewhirst. Gatling had another kill along with Logan Whitaker. Motes had 3 kills along with Zyshonne Lang having 2 kills to lead the Warriors to win the first set 25-8.
  • Merrimack continued to dominate all through the second set with 5 and 6 point runs led by kills from Xander Thesz, Motes, Lang, and Whitaker. The Warriors had a 20 point lead later in the set with a kill from Thesz and Anthony Clapp to have the score 24-4. The Falcons would break up the scoring run with a 3 point run, until Ian Callahan finished the second set with a kill 25-7.
  • Going into the third set, the Warriors wasted no time to finish the game early by going on a four-point run early in the set with two kills lead by Tanner Planz. Merrimack continued to go on a scoring run with a 12-4 score. Fisher College looked to get back into the third set but kills from Callahan and Gatling finished the third and final set for the Warriors 25-8.
