Merrimack looked to start off their season on a high note in front of their own fans at Duane Stadium. A defensive 1
st quarter saw the Terriers strike first within the first few minutes of the game. Grad student
Natalie Calkins had a huge 1
st quarter for the Warriors, netting both of the teams' goals. Freshman
Zoe Inglis got her first career start and saw a lot of action right out the gate saving 4 of the first 6 shots she faced. Tied 2-2 entering the 2
nd quarter, Merrimack started off hot, taking the lead 5-4 with 8 minutes to go in the half. From there, the Terriers would catch a second wind scoring the last 4 goals of the half.
The last bit of play in the 1
st half would carry over for both squads in the 2
nd. Boston University would continue their solid performance with 4 more goals in the 3
rd. Junior
Samantha Spieler would net her second goal of the afternoon to break a Merrimack dry spell with a minute remaining in the quarter, but that would be the last the Warriors would see of the back of the net. The Terriers would score 5 more times in the 4
th quarter, making this one a 6-17 loss for Merrimack.
