How It Happened
It was a revenge seeking squad for Merrimack who wanted to forget a three set sweep from the night prior to this very same team in Sacred Heart. The first set didn't seem like that would be the case as the Warriors held a lead late after being tied at 22. Back to back points from Merrimack had them one point away from grabbing the first set. However, Sacred Heart won five of the next six points and won the set 27-25.

The second set started with back to back hills from Logan Whitaker and Matthew Motes. Sacred Heart quickly got back into it, tying it up at four a piece.  A five to nothing run from the Pioneers followed up by a four to one run had them in front 15 to 9.  The Warriors would come storming back behind a 6 to 1 run before being able to close it out in a battle up until 29 points.

With the match tied one set to one, Merrimack looked to take a leg up. A few bursts from the Warriors and they were ahead in the third set. Once they were ahead, they never looked back until a four to nothing run from the Pioneers late to cut the Warrior lead to just one at 22 to 21. Merrimack was eventually able to close it out at 25-22 going up two sets to one.

The fourth set was when the Warriors wanted to close it out and leave no doubt behind. An early 5-0 run put MC ahead 8-3. Later on, the set was as close as it could be tied at 17. Six straight points from the Warriors put an end to the tight fourth set as they took a commanding 23-17 lead. The Pioneers would not go away quietly, scoring six of the next seven points to trail by just one at 24-23. Logan Whitaker had just about enough and would close out the match with an emphatic kill to win the fourth set 25-23.
