How It Happened
Merrimack would start their weekend with a trip to Brooklyn to play the first of two matches against NEC opponents. They would look to beat the Sharks to get to above .500 in conference play. All looked well in the first set as Merrimack topped LIU 25-21 after some stellar play from the tandem of Logan Whitaker and Matthew Motes. As the Warriors led by a set they wanted to grasp full control by going up two sets but were unable to, losing the second set 25-19. They would then go on to drop the third set to the Sharks before the home team closed it out in the fourth set.

The Warriors would then travel to New Jersey to play the Knights and look to put Friday nights conference loss in the past. Early on in Hackensack it was close and back and forth. The Warriors gained the lead at 12-11 in the first set before FDU had a pair of runs to take over and ultimately win the set 25-16. In the second set FDU was ahead early, middle and end as the Warriors were never able to quite find their stride and ended up losing the second set 25-18. Merrimack wanted to avoid the dreaded three set sweep against their conference foe. In the third set the twins, Kai and Isaiah Vogel would put on a show and do everything in their power to get Merrimack to a fourth set. However, it would not be enough as they fell in the third set leaving the weekend with two losses.
