MANSFIELD, Mass. – The 2018 Merrimack College Men's Lacrosse team has been inducted into the Northeast 10 Conference Hall of Fame, as announced Wednesday afternoon by the NE 10.
The 2018 Merrimack Men's Lacrosse team marked the first National Championship in program history after an outstanding 18-1 season. The 2018 campaign saw the Warriors owning a perfect 12-0 record on home turf and winning nine contests against ten nationally ranked opponents. The Warriors would win their final 14 games including an NE 10 Championship over #17 Saint Anselm.
Merrimack started their quest for the National Championship Trophy with a first-round game against #8 NYIT in which they handled going on to win 24-6. They would then move on to a semifinal's matchup with #3 ranked Seton Hill. The Warriors would hold one of the more potent offenses in the country to just nine goals, coasting to a 16-9 victory. The National Championship Game versus #6 ranked Saint Leo was held at Gillette Stadium just an hour down the road from campus where Warrior fans showed up in full force to support the blue and gold. The Warriors dominated the game, going up 13-1 after the first half and closed out the Lions in dominant fashion, 23-6.
The Warrior 2018 Team featured program greats such as Charlie Bertrand '20, Christian Thomas '21 and Sean Black '21 among many others. Numerous players would end up guiding the Warriors to back-to-back National Championships winning once again in 2019 in the final year of the Division II era in North Andover.
