NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – With five regular season games remaining, the Merrimack College women's ice hockey team have an important road trip ahead this weekend with a pair of Hockey East contests. Game one is against No. 9/9 Providence on Friday night at 7 p.m. Sunday's game is against Vermont at 1 p.m. The Catamounts are three points ahead of the Warriors in the standings. All Teams will be participating in the 2018 Concussion Awareness Weekend.

2018 Concussion Awareness Weekend
  • In conjunction with the Headway Foundation, the women's ice hockey team will be participating in the 2018 Concussion Awareness Weekend this weekend in Rhode Island and Vermont. The goal of the 2018 Concussion Awareness Weekend is to promote a safer sports culture surrounding concussions through the Headway's 'New Tough' Campaign, spread awareness, and provide educational resources for the student athletes. Last Time Out: Earlier This Season vs. Providence/Vermont
  • The Warriors were winless against both teams earlier this year. Against Providence, Merrimack lost 4-1 at Lawler, before falling 5-0 down at Schneider Arena. Megan Fergusson scored the lone goal in that series, while Manu picked up an assist. Demers stopped a combined 64 shots in that series.
  • Against the Catamounts, the Warriors lost 3-0 and 2-1, both at Lawler Rink. Grant-Mentis provided the offense, with Rae and Dominique Kremer adding assists in the second game. Demers and Ridgewell each had 17 saves, both appearing in one game.
The Warriors:
  • Rae has a team-high 18 goals and 23 points through 23 games. She is tied for 11th in conference play with 14 goals and 18 points.
  • Grant-Mentis is second on the team in scoring with 16 points (10g, 6a), with Voight third in scoring with 10 points (4g, 6a). Manu has a team-high eight assists.
The Friars 
  • After suffering a pair of losses last weekend to #3/2 Boston College, Providence enters play with a 14-9-6 overall record and 10-5-4 Hockey East record, sitting in second place in the league standings with 24 points.
  • Brooke Boquist leads the team with 24 points (14g, 10a), while Maureen Murphy has a team-high 17 goals and is second on the team with 23 points. Both are tied for ninth in league play with 19 points. Madison Myers has started 27 contests for the Friars, posting a 13-8-6 record, with a pair of shutouts. She has a .921 save percentage.
  • Providence has the third-best scoring offense and defense in Hockey East play, scoring 3.16 goals per game, and allowing 2.42 goals per game.
The Catamounts
  • Vermont enters the weekend with an 8-16-4 overall record and 5-11-3 conference record, after picking up a weekend sweep of Northeastern last weekend. The Catamounts won 5-2 on Friday and 4-3 on Saturday.
  • Eve-Audrey Picard leads the team with 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists. Alyssa Gorecki is second on the team with 16 points (7g, 9a). Amanda Drobot has a team-high 10 assists. Sydnee Scobee has started 21 games in net for the Catamounts, posting a 7-11-3 record with one shutout. She has a 2.88 goals-against-average.
  • Vermont has the fifth-best power play in conference play at 16.5 percent (13-79). The penalty kill is the best in the conference, as the Catamounts have killed off 89.3 percent of the penalties (67-75).
Up Next
With three games remaining in the schedule, the Warriors host Northeastern for their final home regular season game on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Lawler Rink. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
