SOMERSET,
N.J. – Four Merrimack College women's lacrosse players represent the Warriors in the 2024 Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Awards as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman
Lindsay Atkinson leads the way taking home three different awards. The freshman phenom was named NEC Rookie of the Year and was also a part of the All-Rookie Team and All-Conference Second Team. Atkinson led the Warriors this season in goals (31), assists (15), points (46), and free position goals (11), all of which are Merrimack Division I records. She also broke an NEC record with the most Rookie of the Week Awards in a season with six, earning four in a row over the last month of the season.
Graduate student, and captain,
Kelly Corrigan was named to the NEC All-Conference Second Team as a defender making it the third straight season she has made an All-Conference Team. The North Andover native was Merrimack's draw control ace, winning a total of 33 which was good enough for 3
rd on the Warriors. She was also tied for 2
nd in caused turnovers (16) and 4
th in ground balls (21).
Senior Captain
Holly Schweitzer was the third member of the Warriors that made Second Team All-Conference, marking her first time winning an NEC Award. Schweitzer was a key to Merrimack's defensive success, as she was 2
nd on the team in ground balls (28) and 4
th in caused turnovers (14).
Freshman midfielder
Kaitlin Roche was the other Warrior to be named to the NEC All-Rookie Team. Roche was one of the best at securing draw controls in the conference, leading the team with 42. She helped control the midfield for the Warriors and was tied for 4
th on the team in goals (12) and 5
th on the team in points (18).
