SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Merrimack men's cross country team kicked off their 2024 campaign
Saturday morning at Bryant University for the Shawn Nassaney Invitational. The Warriors claimed second place in a field of nine competitors.
Senior
Ryan Dyer captured a top 10 finish navigating the course in 16:03. Right on his heels was sophomore
Aidan Dupill who finished the course in 16:04.0 earning an 11th place finish. Rounding out the Warriors top three was freshman
Sean Moore who crossed the line in 16:16.7 good for 16th place.
A fierce pack of Warriors finished the 5k course in tandem adding crucial points for Merrimack. Senior
Jack Lombardi ran 16:17.3 to take 19th place,
Billy Coakley navigated the course in 16:17.4 to secure a 20 th place finish, and
Reidar Aageson crossed the line in 16:17.5 to claim 21st place. Junior
Michael Alleva rounded out the team by racing 16:24.4 good for 25th place.
This meet was against nine other opponents including, Stonehill, Bryant, Dartmouth, Assumption, Holy Cross, So. Conn. St., and Wheaton.
Coaching Spotlight
"Overall, it was a good first effort for our men. Some of our top men treated the race as a workout. Going forward, the ability of our 1 - 7 pack to remain tight will be the key to our success this season."
